Dancers flow gracefully through space, evoking images and emotions.

Free runners bound, flip and fly through urban space.

Magicians pull cards out of thin air.

Exceptional performance is the seemingly impossible made effortless. Exceptional individuals perform stunts that mystify, awe and regale.

Digital Nomad Blog Carnival (Thai Political Unrest Edition)

political violence in Thailand

I offered to host Cody McKibben’s digital nomad blog carnival this month, and the timing couldn’t have been better. I’m sure he needed the help. Cody lives in Bangkok, which continues to be gripped with it’s worst political violence in decades.

When I wrote Cody to talk about this month’s blog carnival, I received this email in response:

Unfortunately the political unrest in Thailand has reached a boiling point and anti-government protesters are clashing with soldiers on my doorstep—rubber bullets, tear gas, M79 grenades and petrol bombs are flying on Thanon Ratchaprarop and Din Daeng in central Bangkok.

ALL business is on hold until further notice. Until things cool down, I may be difficult to reach and take several days to respond to your message. Thanks for your understanding.

Chris Guillebeau's Empire Building Kit is available for 24 hours. Don't miss out.

Empire Building KitUpdate: the Empire Building Kit is sold out for now. Chris says it should open up again in the summer if you missed your chance to get in. I also highly recommend Chris’ guide to Working For Yourself as an alternative.

If you’ve been waiting for Chris Guillebeau’s Empire Building Kit to open back up, this is your chance to get in. EBK will be available for 24 hours only starting at 9am PST / 12pm EST Tuesday, May 18th.

Check out EBK and learn how to build a lifestyle business in one year by doing one thing every day

What is the Empire Building Kit?

The EBK deconstructs the process of building a successful lifestyle business — something Chris defines as a small business with one or two employees, built around something the business owner loves to do. The “successful” part is critical, so Chris cast a wide net and looked at businesses that earn between $50,000 and $150,000 a year in net income.

The Case for the Complete Affiliate Marketing Business

I mentioned a while ago that I’m working on a bigger project all about affiliate marketing. I’ll share more details about that project shortly (and at the end of this post), but I wanted to talk today about affiliate marketing as a complete business.

If you’re completely new to affiliate marketing, the concept is simple. Lots of businesses and people online are willing to reward you for referring new customers or visitors. All you have to do is sign up for an affiliate marketing program and direct people to the program owner’s site. If those people purchase something, you earn a commission.

What I love about affiliate marketing as a business is that it doesn’t require you to create any products, write any software, hire any employees or meet with anyone in-person or online. You just find people who might be interested in purchasing a product and show them where they can purchase it. It’s probably the easiest way to get started making money online.

Why I Decide to Live Off Pennies

living off pennies

Guest post by David Damron of The Minimalist Path

This time last year, I was bringing home (after taxes and retirement contributions) about $1,000 every two weeks. I know that, by many standards, this may not be a lot of money, but in my eyes, it’s a kings ransom these days. Why you ask? Because I am the sole contributor to my income this year. In other words, I am living off pennies.

This article was inspired by Corbett’s question Is Lifestyle Design Dead Already? Hopefully, this post will help show you the realities of lifestyle design and why you should still focus on creating your own.
